I’m back at the station, and I’ve got coffee and tea ready for you all. Grab a chair and gather around, let’s see how you all did this past weekend. Saturday: I arrived home to New Hampshire about 8:00am after a long 17 hour trip. I only took one stop in Ohio at one of my favorite roadside attractions and places to eat, Buckeye Express. I’ve posted about it before and if your reading this, you simply must stop and visit this place. Naturally, I slept for a few hours before getting a few non-railroad things done. The Galesburg City Job and all its accessories traveled well without any lost or broken parts. My Dad and I successfully unloaded it into its new temporary spot and as time allows, I’ll slowly get it set up and be switching cars again. Sunday: Was family day, so a ride was in order. A relaxing day before I start my new job here in NH. Not really train related, but relaxing nonetheless. My next order of business is to get Angela and Lucy moved out here and under one roof. Long distance relationships are such a drag! So how about you? What did you accomplish this past weekend? Let us know. We’ll assemble again on Friday the 21st to start the process all over again. Adjusted, more like fine-tuned trolley track before starting to hang wire. After 70 years of laying HO and N flex-track with only occasional mishaps, didn't understand how finicky trolley track could be. Though I really shouldn't have been surprised with 6-1/8" radius HO curves where the slightest out of gauge or kink will pop a wheel onto the ground. It's unsolder rail, tiny pull here, slight push there, resolder rail and hope. Don't get me wrong, I love the challenge of achieving perfection.
Well - we had an internet free weekend -- sometime Friday evening our cable modem decided to die. So, I spent all of Saturday morning trying to figure out what the heck is/was going on. After replacing the wireless router a couple of times. I finally narrowed it down to the modem. Called the cable company and after he did his typical - having me reboot the darn the thing (Which I had done a couple of times already). He determined that the modem is not functioning properly. So, the cable guy will be at the house this afternoon (I'm typing this at work). With all of that --I did manage to get a little modeling in. Saturday - afternoon: - Worked on the tail light package for the Lark's lounge observation and I put together a couple of the Tichey MOW cars (For storage sheds). Sunday: In the morning, I went to a friends house for an opps session (It went great - had a lot of fun) There were 8 of us. Got home and worked a bit more on the lounge observation. Hopefully, next weekend I will be able to prime the remainder of the cars. Hope Y'all had a great weekend, Wolf
Friday I made another 36 trees or there about. Due to a huge forest fire I didn’t get home until about 4 am Sunday so nothing else got done other than sleep all day. Hopefully I can get my son to help me today to get what I wanted done yesterday since he is home from school today for some weird teacher prep thingy going on.
This weekend was the annual Los Altos Train Days. Our Ntrak group had a layout setup in the History Museum building which included an AsiaNrail setup with my junction module in the middle. In all I had 3 modules in both layouts as well as bringing the club trailer so it was a busy weekend for me. I still need to tow the trailer back to it hiding place and unload my truck. Since I retired I allow myself the luxury the waiting until Monday morning to return the Peninsula Ntrak club trailer to it's shed at the South Bay Historical Railroad Society (SHBRS). In my working years I would have to do this on Sunday night, sometimes in the dark rain or shine. Today I brought my iPad with me and got some photos. Not a lot of room to work with, got to get into position between the ties that border the path to the tower which is out of view to the right and the utility poles behind the truck. This is on part of a UP/Caltrain service road so while I am doing this I am blocking the service road which has never been a problem. I have however had several times where UP or Caltrain MOW trucks were parked in front of the shed but they have always been great about moving. The area in front of the shed is ballast so there is sometimes wheel slipping when maneuvering the trailer in. Today I saw a UP high rail go by as well as a Amtrack California Capitol and a couple of Caltrain commuters. In years past the track was fairly close to tower and there was no fence or path with it's tie border so we had a bit more room to maneuver.
