Well I did what I set out to do. Built a few more trees. Made a shelter for a train station, pretty much completed half of the Uintah Junction. So what’s next? Time to build a trestle, dog out a lake and go from there. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Painted little work crew and survey crew, made a basic little theodolite model for the surveyors. Binder 3 hole punch and scrap clear plastic from packaging makes nice little bases for figurines super quick, in about a minute I had more than I will need for months.

Started a little scene of MOW on the Cuesta Grade... a few trucks, a bobcat and a small digger are on order. They will be fixing a drainage system that is in the wash the survey crew is looking at.

Also laid down a lot of static grass and dyed a large batch of WS clump foliage with a wash of grey/brown to make it look better for my location.

Spent some time late Saturday and all day yesterday working on fascia/skirting for the center peninsula of my layout. I'll probably hold off painting until I do scenery up the edge of the thing. Anyway, this is where I'm going w/ this thing...

After returning from a camping trip, my plans got altered a bit. I did get some decaling done on some of the remaining lark cars - I have 13 more to finish. I also worked on a couple of other projects. And, I purchased another diesel switcher -- photos once it arrives.

Hope Y'all had a great weekend,
    Wolf

I need to fix a crossing. The Blair line crossing is not code 83 friendly. Anyone ever take a dremel tool to it so make them a little thinner?

I set out to finish a design for an NScale 3D printed Milwaukee Road style Pantograph that goes up and down. Lo - I did it, and am shocked it actually worked! Proof that even if you think it won't work, try it - you may surprise yourself:

Spent an enjoyable weekend adding scenery to what I call the Harney section of my home layout. It is shown here sitting on saw horses in the middle of the train room where it is easier to work on. When I get it far enough along, it will be installed in the layout and the scenery blended into the existing parts. I also got around to laying and painting the track on the back right of way. That's the staging yard and locomotive display case in the background of this photo.

Here is another shot at a lower angle. This section includes the transition from a photo backdrop and more open country to using the canyon walls as a backdrop. This is also where I finally get to use the BLMA brass thru truss bridge I purchased several years ago.

Been a while since I posted here. I'm working of a kitbash of a kato u30-7 I to a Chinese National Railways ND5. Its comming along nicely, although I'm dreading the curved striping that I'll have to mask on the ends. 20181029_184825.jpg 20181029_184923.jpg

That's a nice job, and I like the soft blue. Is that a national paint scheme?

Yep! When the nationalized railways decided to import their second generation diesels rather than designing their own from Solviet failures they looked to GE to provide. They ended up purchasing around 200 GE U36-7 units in their first batch which they painted this unique blue/green scheme. They later ordered an additional 250 units which had various modifications from the early class (such as a extra low nose and costom light packages) which were painted the standard "Military Police" dark green scheme. They were well liked for their low maintenance and high reliability, although some crews were upset they didnt include a tea kettle like the domesticly produced locos! Some are even still in service although they are being phased out as lines are electrifed and newer units are displaced. I'm attempting to model the first order with the standard u-boat lines and light blue paint.
