We’re back from the weekend, time to gather around and let us know how you did. We’ll assemble again on Friday the 9th to start the process all over again. Until then, have a great week, stay safe and as always... High Greens!
I managed to get some work done on my Baldwin switcher project. Started with: Then: To ready for decals: Hope Y'all had a great weekend, Wolf
Well my trestle is built, two dumpsters were built, the two outhouses are missing pieces so now I wait for that. Prep work is almost finished for the lake. Next is sculptamold and adding some rocks. Then I gotta figure out paint then I can place the bridge and get ready for resin.
Well I did not get as far as I had hoped on this bridge scene. Just took my time on the weathering and by Sunday evening had just about the effect I was looking for. Also did some more work on the area around the bridge and the river itself. While applying some gloss medium to the river I noticed that the river at Golconda did not have the same sparkle it had a couple years ago when I built that scene. So I cleaned it up and put down another coat of gloss medium on it. The pair of photos below show the results. Also on Saturday I got to an open house at a local club with both N and HO layouts. I have not been getting to as many shows as I would like so this small outing was a real treat for me. While there I noticed this skewed bridge on the HO layout. I was interested in this because I need to build something like this for the tracks to cross one another further up the canyon so this will be one of my reference photos. It was a good weekend, hope everyone else enjoyed themselves as well.
I dialed in the design of my pantographs this weekend. One thing that was bothering me was that the pan-head often did not sit parallel to the tracks when the pantograph was extended to operating position. Wracked my brain for a few hours on how to solve for that and came up with a solution that seems to work rather well. Now that's done I can move on to another project. Sorry for the blurry pic but I think you get the idea:
Weekend didn't turn out like I thought. Sometimes that's a good weekend. Football Saturday was great! Did manage to work on a couple of buildings that I'm kitbashing/scratchbuilding. Also went to the Raleigh Train Show yesterday at the Fairgrounds. Purchased a few goodies.
Installed 1015s on my new Bachmann S4, and worked on scratchbuilding a depot heavily patterned after the Parsons, West Virginia station!
