Been thinking of those who are affected by hurricane harvey, I noticed that Sugarland,TX was mentioned in the mix of all the news on the hurricane. Is everyone Ok? How bad is the home and the model railroad?

He is OK. Been staying with family, out of town.

Any other folks? Hopefully all safe?

My son evacuated out of Aransas Pass just ahead of Harvey, to San Antonio. The old neighborhood is basically gone, and he's lost everything. He joined a "homeless vet" program with the VA and starting next week he'll have a dorm room and a job at the hospital to help him get back on his feet.

The VA catches a lot of crap, and often deservedly so, but the folks in SA have gone above and beyond for our veterans. Kudos to them.

I am back home now. The levees kept the Brazos River out and the pumps kept the rain water from getting into the houses. Most of the streets and green belts/parks were flooded. After the rain stopped the pumps were able to drain the neighborhoods. We have some minor wind damage but no water damage. The neighbors measured a total of 51 inches of rain over the duration of the storm.

Russ, that is the best news possible. Your Sugerland layout was one of the biggest influences on me staying with N Scale as a kid.

Glad to hear some good news for you Russ! There's plenty of sad stories to be had, but Texans are amazing people and giving a lesson in humanity to the rest of the country.

Thanks, we are back to normal except I am still without my car. My son borrowed it until he can replace his own. His Subaru Outback did NOT have a snorkel when he tried to drive it around during all the rain. Hopefully his insurance will cut him a check soon so he can go about replacing his car and bringing mine back.
