Watco Cos. LLC, a short line railroad holding and transportation services company based in Pittsburg, Kan., has selected Herzog Technologies, Inc. (HTI) to provide Positive Train Control (PTC) hosting services. HTI previously announced PTC hosting contracts with Tacoma, Wash.-based short line Tacoma Rail and Ohio-based regional Wheeling & Lake Erie.

“HTI PTC Hosting allows railroads nationwide to simplify and accelerate PTC implementation utilizing our PTC expertise and existing PTC data center infrastructure,” said Travis Rollings, Director of Office Systems. “With this partnership, HTI will assist Watco Cos. in meeting the mandated [Dec. 31, 2018] PTC [federal implementation] deadline and be interoperable with its host railroads. Watco has been supportive of our hosting efforts for some time, and we are eager to continue this partnership.”

HTI is a supplier of PTC-related services and software, including PTC system integration, survey and data management, and back-office software. HTI also provides signal and communication services. HTI is a subsidiary of Herzog Contracting Corp., which was founded in 1969.
