Hi, I'm Andy from Wigan. Having been very much an 'out of the box' person with Hornby stuff, I've recently bought a house with the space for a proper layout, so I'm starting out on the more serious side. I'm exploring DCC with a DCC++ board - I like homebrew stuff and prefer getting that to work rather than spending huge amounts of money for commercial gear. I'm more of a civil/electrical/mechanical engineer than a hobbyist - my father in law can deal with layouts and scenery. I fix engines, sort out the engineering of layouts etc. Basically here because it seems to be the best DCC++ resource available on the web. Thanks
Hi Andy, Welcome, happy to have you on board. I can relate to your enjoying the engineering side of model railroading rather than creating scenery. However in the past 10-11 years I found that creating scenery was equally as rewarding as laying "perfect" track, or having the best running locomotives and rolling stock. I laugh because my transition (awakening?) only took 60 years. So there may be hope for you yet. LOL
I hope I don't have 60 years to transition. Good time, not long time. And yes, I know, easy to say at 37.
