Hello all, My name is Dave Arkley and I live in the south of England, although I originally hale from the north. I've followed the usual railway modellers path, had a layout as a kid, started my own layout in my twenties, got married and had kids (so NO modelling for 30 years) and now I'm nearing retirement I have time/space/money to pick up in the hobby again. I've converted my garage into a railway room, and since I'm modelling in N gauge the 20ft by 7ft space gives me room for a largish layout. I'm modelling the Waverley Route, a Scottish mainline which ran from Carlisle in the north of England to Edinburgh in Scotland, just over 100 miles (although I'm only modelling a small portion based around Hawick station). The line was closed in the late 1960s so I'll be running a mixture of steam and diesel traction. The layout will be DCC controlled using European commercial kit (Dijikeijs) and some Arduino kit. I thought I'd join TrainBoard as you guys in the U.S. seem a few years ahead of modellers in the U.K. in terms of techniques and approach so I aim to soak up as much of your experiences as possible. Cheers, Dave
Welcome aboard, Dave. Hope you have a good time poking through the threads here, and hope you'll share some photos of your work and the local rail scene.
Welcome. Good to have a fella from across the pound on board. Interesting but information sharing goes both ways. `
Welcome to Trainboard, Dave. We will look forward to your progress. Photos are great for showing changes as you progress in your plans.
