Hi everyone. My wife and I are moving to Idaho the end of the year and are currently having our retirement home built there which will include a three car garage. Guess who "owns" the third bay in the garage? Yup, me. I get to have all that space to myself and intend to use it to its fullest. We've been married for 42 years and in that time we have never, except for a short period of 6 months, had a garage to call our own, let alone a three car job! So I've been playing with the idea of creating a N scale layout I can hoist and/or let down from the ceiling (11' ceiling height). I've never had the space to build a layout but will be retiring in the next couple years so this will give me a great opportunity to do so. My love of trains came from my earliest memories as my gramps was the depot master for the CNW in Emerson Nebraska and taught me much. I'm looking forward to meeting you all and being able to learn from you and cast my ideas out on the table.
I'm hoping to model the 80s CNW. They had quite a collection of motive power...pretty much so to the merger actually.
Welcome aboard, Dan. I'm sure there are a lot of folks who would love to hear some of those old stories. Hope you find lots of useful info and camaraderie here!
Nope. We are in the process of getting ready to sell our Sonoma properties for the end of year move. I will have a 10x16" space available for a layout in Idaho so I'm really excited to begin at least the design phase of the framework, supports, lift and maybe before we leave, the actual track layout itself.
