Hello, I'm John from a small town actually called Mars that north of Pittsburgh, PA. I Joined the forum to read about / discuss controlling N scale trains via DCC++. I posted some of this info on the end of the DCC++ thread. Anyway, I've been in the IT business for 30+ years so digging into the guts of the code is not a big deal for me. I've already started mucking around with a combination of Raspberry Pi 3, Arduino Mega 2560, and the Arduino motor shield. I haven't yet purchased my first dcc enabled loco yet, but am already liking what I see you can do with JMRI/DCC++ combo. I'm still debating on the best way to actually use the hardware I have but modify the DCC++ code to drive an older DC train track.
I'll never know why my state has no Mars. It certainly has enough red dirt. So, do the streetlights in Mars oscillate? Hi, John! Welcome!
Welcome aboard, John. Personally not a modeler, I am in awe of all the different jargon concerning the electronics involved.
I haven't seen Matt, but I've seen an odd green fellow in our old red caboose. http://www.waymarking.com/gallery/default.aspx?f=1&guid=aa110b60-8243-43c4-89ee-f1e98d6571b7&gid=2
Hi John, Welcome. I envy your digging into the power an versatility of DCC++. This kind of power wasn't dream of when I started in the field 60 years ago.
Hello, John. Welcome aboard! I know diddly-squat about DCC, but it does interest me. I recently bought a Tsunami sound card to install in my old PFM 2-8-0 loco. So far, I have not worked up the nerve to try it! LOL Anyway, we are happy you have joined us.
Welcome aboard, and place names can be interesting. I've personally been to a Santa Claus (can't recall the actual spelling now) in Belgium and to Hel in Germany. You just never know...
