Hi to everyone. I have started model trains since 2014 diverting from my main hobby as an active Ham Radio operator who experienced a Dramatic fall in sunspot activity and poor radio waves propagation. Although my main layout is in HO scale, I am working in parallel a small Z and lately a medium to small N scale layout hence my interest in DCC++. The HO layout is fully automated and is based on Marklin 3 rail tracks and AC locomotives almost all of them with sound. For the automation I use an Arduino Mega (it offers 48 sensors I use12) for sensor control based in cheap Chinese infrared boards with 3mm led under the track bed. Turnouts and commands to locos are send via a Canbus shield on an Arduino Uno and finally signal control is done with an Arduino Leonardo (board offers 11 signal control I use 10). On top of all these the management and a fully automated control (without operator intervention) is done with Rocrail program. Welcome aboard! I also have different hobbies and model different scales. You’ll find a lot of good information on this forum. Be sure to use the “search” feature for anything specific.
Welcome aboard, and it does sound like you have quite a bit going. When you can, I think a lot of us would appreciate some pictures of your HO layout, as the 3 rail Marklin will be very exotic for many of us Americans.
Hello, Manos. Not only will you find a great amount of information here, but if you participate, I'm sure you can offer your experiences with others. Welcome to TrainBoard.
Ok I will be glad to post some pictures although I do not have much for the moment. The main effort is to finish all the electric parts of the layout so I can start working on the scenery. In other words is like trying to fill a barrel without bottom, hi!
Welcome to TrainBoard! I seem to know or have known a good number of ham radio folks, who were or are also model railroaders. Interesting!
