Hello All! My name is Don Nymann, and I'm from Madison, WI. I'm getting back into the hobby after a very long time and I'm doing a lot of reading to catch up on current trends. I'm planning on a hollow core door layout with Kato Unitrack. I have a thread on the layout discussion that I hope to get some feedback on. My avatar is because my Maternal Grandfather worked for the CB & Q on the Creston Division in the 30's and 40's. He was a conductor on the Denver Zephyr for a time. My Paternal Grandfather alerted a Q train in SW Iowa to a burning trestle and managed to get them to stop. So, a bit of history there. So thanks for the add and I look forward to many interesting conversations. Cheers! Don Nymann
Welcome to TrainBoard! You mention reading- a very smart idea. Read, ask questions. You will be glad for doing it this way!
Thanks! Planning on early 50's, no later than 1955. I have an Atlas SD-7, an Intermountain F3 A/B set, a Kato E8 and finally an Atlas Baldwin VO-1000. Blackbird scheme. I would love to find an Atlas GP-7 in the Blackbird scheme, but those seem pretty rare nowadays.
Hi Don, Welcome. Once railroading is in your blood, it's there to stay even if it was only one or two family members. Enjoy your N-Scale journey. We're here to answer questions, chat, and most importantly enjoy what you create and share...with photos, of course.
Welcome aboard, Don. Your grandfathers undoubtedly had something to do with your interest in the hobby, as so many of our parents and grandparents did.
Welcome to a great model site. You've picked a great railroad with a long and interesting history that you've got a great connection to. Sounds like you have a pretty good idea of what you want, now you just need to catch up on the latest and the greatest. Good luck!
