It was a great thread this time around and actually inspired me to get started on my own layout. The work shown by all was fantastic. :)

Maybe a Spring or Summer party. At least Summer party will be Ken and my Winter party!

Yep, it would be great to have 2 parties each year: one during winter and one during summer. This way I can finish my layout in less that 5 years :D

Does anyone realize just how long it takes to read though 42 pages of a thead? I`ve been at this for about 8 hours! I`m beat. OK, truth be told I also framed up all four walls of my layout room. This thread has been the kick in the shorts I needed to get up and start. It may not be perfect but I`m having a blast
Thanks to all for posting great pics and descriptions of how to model diferent aspects of this wonderful hobby.

Denny, as fast as you go, you should be done by next winter's layout party! :D

    Hehe, I hope so Mike!
But I haven't started any structure yet. Since I want to scratchbuild most of them, I guess it's going to take a little more than just a couple of layout parties. :)

Oo, I cant wait to see that. If you take on a few scratchbuilding projects for next party, I'll join you. (and by that I mean pretty much copy your every step) :p

Seriously though, I need to learn to scratch build. :p

It's really easy Mark. Start simple and go from there. Some try for the moon and fall short never to try again.

Somewhere, I have a simple tutorial for scratch building a pre-fab shed using readily available styrene sheet, strip and door castings. I'll post it up.

I'm not an expert when it comes down to scratchbuilding, I tried something simple is the past. This time it'll be pretty tough, I have several kind of structures I need to build... But wait... hey, if you copy every step you'll end up with another SP Coast Line layout :p

I'll agree with that comment, Denny. I have been looking for a strter project and this will be a good place to start. Lots of buildings like that along my ROW. Jamie

Thanks, I'm going to have a go at this!

Instructions for a similar building were published in the November 2004 Model Railroader (starting on page 50).

    Cheers,

    Colin

So Many Dreams. So Little Time

    Hello Folks,
    Nice work everyone!
I have been working two jobs trying to save my mortgage. Until I'm in the clear I won't be working on the layout.
    Good luck everyone

    Excellent work, folks!

I am sorry I didn't jump in. We had an illness in the family that became a death in the family (mother-in-law), so that kind of threw everything sideways. I am looking forward to a spring layout party if we have one.

Can we have a few more days before you lock the thread? I did get some of my goals accomplished but haven't had time to document with photos yet. Maybe till the weekend?

    Hello all,
I had to drop out in late January to handle some family business. And I did not get to finish my logging camp. But I enjoyed taking part in the "Party" and looking at everyone work. Wow!! are there some great modelers on Trainboard. I hope to get back to MRR work by the end of March.

    See ya
    Ron

Do we have dates for the 2nd Annual Winter Layout Party?

What are our plans for the 2nd Annual Winter Layout Party? If we have one, I've got a few projects I'll plan to save till then.
