That second NS unit looks a bit scruffy. What was happening? Moving on after a meet? Slow order for some reason?
They met a northbound 132. The standard cab SD70 you mention will eventually be part of NS's rebuidl program that will turn them into SD70ACC's. "SD70 DC to AC Rebuilds. NS will be sending EMD SD70 units 2537 and 2548 to the Progress Rail facility in Patterson, GA, where they will be rebuilt and converted from DC to AC traction. The standard cab and low short hood on each will be replaced with a new widenose and cab, as well, as new electrical cabinet, new electrical system, traction motors, etc. Once completed, they will carry NS model designation SD70ACC. The 2537 was initially sent to the Progress Rail plant in Muncie, IN last week, but has since departed Muncie and will be headed to Georgia. At last report, it was at Conway, PA. The 2548 has been in coal field service on the NS Pocahontas Division and has not yet been shipped to Progress Rail."
