What were the "going ons" around eola in the 1940s/50s. What were the jobs that worked there, and what trains did they switch? I've known about this place forever, but I've never really known the history or even the typical operation and purpose today. I've noticed the two yards on either side of the main and I can only guess that this classified in different directions. I've seen a photo of an O5 leaving the yards there, Though It seems like their roundhouse would have only been big enough for a mike. What engines did they use here? whats the overall purpose of the yard today? I'm hoping Charlie can provide info here, as it seems that he has worked here before.

Can't help on CB&Q operations, but the EJ&E crossed over the Q main at Eola, IL. The roads maintained an interchange there. Two legs connected off the J main, one each from north and south. In the '70s, the J handled loaded unit coal trains off the BN.
