I am about to leave on a car trip from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Boston, Mass. I will be driving route 95 for almost the entire length of the trip. Can anyone make some recommendations for rail fan locations along this route? I don't have a lot of time so I am interested in locations that are within an hour or so of route 95. Thank you for your help!

You may want to start with what I was speaking of a few days ago, if you don't already know... ;)

About 1 hour driving from US95 when leaving it at West Palm Beach.. :)

Jacksonville is a hot spot. Info at [ http://www.railfanguides.us/fl/jacksonville/index.htm ]

You'll be fairly close to the former ACL main much of the way through the south. Folkston, GA is a well-known spot with its railfan viewing platform and is often very busy. You may also want to take a look at Jessup, GA (junction and railfan viewing platform) and Florence, SC (there's a flat yard there), Rocky Mount, NC (flat yard and depot) and Ashland, VA (former RF&P runs through the center of town, Tiny Tim's hobby shop there too).

Stay safe on I-95 and best wishes for good weather!
