I decided to build this Sketch set because I liked the design, and hip roofs always present a challenge. One of my favorite building techniques is the use of a 16 guage metal plate (1 /16 " thick) as a construction base. I first use the structure base to draw an outline perimeter (1 inch larger) on a piece of paper. I then cut out the paper, and tape it to the metal plate. The structure base is then rubber cemented to the paper. This procedure allows the use of magnets to hold walls and other parts in place while gluing. Using magnetic "lego" blocks keeps walls plumb and square until glue dries.

To help with mitering strips for garage trim I made a jig for easy cutting.
