Dinner at Liberty Station

    I'm visiting my daughter and family in Bedford, Virginia. Last night they took me to Liberty Station, the old Norfolk and Western station that's been converted to a restaurant. Good food, good prices, and they had a fair amount of memorabilia around. Up on the wall behind our table was an original dining car menu from the Powhatan Arrow.

    Worth a visit.

    Thanks for the tip Rocket! With my interest piqued, I found this great old photo on Virginia Tech's Imagebase website. Looking at the car, I'm guessing 1920s?

    That's a handsome building! I do wonder how it appears today?

    Looks like the passenger trains diverged from the main track to pass by.

    Yes, that's a very wide platform. Is that some sort of train order signal just beyond the canopy? Looks perhaps like a lantern hung by pulley and rope.

    It is possible that is a signal. Train order, I would doubt. While they might have copied orders there, they really would not need one at that station.
