Loaded Coal Train - North Fork Branch 11/24/12 We headed out to hike around Bridgeport on 11/24/12 and noticed the installation of new utility poles along the tracks. The installation of these new signs make me think that UP has finally quit fighting the public use of the Bridgeport trail. Ben
Empty Coal Train - North Fork Branch, Bridgeport, CO 11/24/12 Note the UP truck following the train. Ben
I found these pictures hiding on my computer that are from nine years ago. They are all in either the Dotsero or Glenwood Canyon area.
Recently Ken gave me a heads up that we would be seeing some CSX power and cars due to the West Elk mine getting a contract for trains to Virginia. I happened to catch a couple of engines in the yard several days ago. A string of CSX hoppers were also in the yard but were not in the best light to be photographed. Also a couple of scale monitoring cars were being moved around the yard. Yesterday my son and I headed up toward Kremling, CO early in the morning. Other than Amtrak, this train in Glenwood Springs would be the only one that we would see all day. On the way home we noticed that UP apparently was performing signal maintenance on the line. Hopefully we will have better luck next time. Ben
Ok, so it's a craptastic picture. Only had my phone on me. But after working the midnight switch job looky what I found next to the sand tracks here in Grand Junction!!! Ben, you might wanna try to get a better pic of this today.
Better to grab something, than have nothing at all. I've seen too many times when opportunity never comes around again.
Sweet action! Side Q: does Whitewater Bldg Materials still use those grey or orange covered hoppers with their name on it?
Haven't ever noticed, but I'll be out and about today. I'll take a shot at talking the wife into a detour while we're running errands today.
