I’ve got a DCC++ base station running on a Mega plus connected to JMRI on my laptop or WiThrottle on my phone via a dedicated LAN.

I can control locomotives happily using the short address and I can write to most CVs but I can’t read CVs back from the decoders nor can I control the locomotives using the long address.

I can definitely write to CV 1 which is the short address, and have proved this by running locomotives on different short addresses. I think I can write the long address using CVs 17 & 18 but don’t know for sure as I can’t read the CVs. I can definitely write CV 29 which amongst other things enables long addresses and I’ve tested that I could write to CV 29 by flipping the direction bit. But I can’t control locomotives via the long address either from JMRI or directly from WiThrottle.

    Any ideas?

Digitrax have the calculators (excluding Railcom) on their web site. Start with the CV 29 and then CV 17 & 18. Leave short address as is.

If you are using the prescribed power shields check your pin settings and cuts on the shield for the Arduino you are using. Your power supply could also be on the weak side for your scale and also check your connections to the programming track.
