Hi folks, Today I received my stainless steel etched detail parts for my 'Berwick' steel coal gondola. I am quite happy with the result sofar. The body is printed by Shapeways in HDA material. Another body style added to my coal train. But still a lot to do.
Man, that's nice. I would love to have some of those etchings if you ever decide to run some extra to sell. The Berwicks and/or coalveyors are going to be key for my layout eventually.
All, Eventually my first 'Berwick' steel bathtub coal gondola became the UP 34611. The UP logo seemed to be a difficult part (but found a simple solution to solve it ), since I do not have an Alps printer or similar... Features: -Sketchup is used to design the gondola body and it has been 3D printed by Shapeways in 'HDA' material. -MTL roller bearing trucks with coupler. -Detail parts are designed by me and professionally etched by PPD Ltd in Scotland. -Black decals are self designed (using Open office draw) and home printed on a Brother HL-2130. -White decals are self designed (using Open office draw) and printed by "http://www.decalwinkel.nl/". -The UP symbol is build up with two white printed decals. The first decal is hand painted with blue and red. When dry, the second decal is applied on top. -Paint: Yellow Tamiya XF-3 (added a little red to get close to UP yellow) and black Tamiya X-18. -Light wethering is done with Vallejo pigments.
Dear all, Some more UP bathtub gondolas. The coal version and MOW version have different side ribs, although hardly visible in Z scale. these four were printed by Shapeways in FUD. UP haralds are hand painted and covered with a white decal. ...The GP35 still isn't detailed....
I don't know these , but gbrx had some (slightly diffrent ladders though) according pics I found in the internet.
These are all outstanding! great job! I guess I need to get a good printer to do decals and get my group of cars on the go! keep it up very impressive work!
...testing switching of the new gons. They run well on MTL and Full Throttle trucks. (Backdrop is edited into the picture)
