Some people go to extremes when making a layout.

When you gotta run trains, you gotta run trains.

"Extremes". This is the word. Portable, I guess, but barely. At least he's able to model RR!

Europe and UK have space problems like this. Innovative solution. I only wonder how weatherproof it is? It sure can rain a lot.

Necessity is the mother of invention. I think this is a pretty cool solution to a space problem.

Why not just have it all set up and horizontal all the time (what is it, 5'x 6' ?) and have a cover to put over it (tarpaulin/one piece slightly pitched (shingled/ tin) roof, or even a solar panel !!. No rain, direct sun, nor snow would affect it (+-). Any non-related objects could still be kept under it...M

A lot of thought, or trial and error, went into setting that up. Very impressive. I'd love to know the back story as to why he had to do it that way.

It's a really odd layout, considering the number of garden layouts out there. I agree w you Mark in LA, and Rocket, why not leave it set up and just have a cover.

I'd be too exhausted to run trains after getting it out!

Um, it would be in the way of the door to the shed.

I will wager he needs the space and extra grass fro those times when he wrestles his pet tapir, or wants to play some footi in the back yard.
