Has anyone here had to send their Challenger back to the factory for repair and received it back?

Last time I had an issue Athearn took care of me very well. I am afraid this one is going to be gone for a while based on the extent of my recent mishap.

Yes, my 2017 release challenger has been back for warranty repairs. I'd be happy to tell you my experience in a private message or e-mail... Does the board have PM capability? I haven't found it... if it does, PM me, and I'll figure out how to reply.

My panic condition has subsided. The manufacturer has parts in stock and I was able to buy the complete leading driver set pre-painted in UP Greyhound scheme! YAHOO! No shipping overseas, etc. It wasn't cheap but now I will have some spares after did-assembling the old unit.

I cannot stress how important it is not rely on the short circuit protection of a DCC LAYOUT if you can't see the train at all times or hear it by turning off the sound.

I never dreamed my Kato turnouts would wear out but believe me, they do. One switch has cost me way over $100.00 worth of repair parts from short circuits due to derailments.

If I could make 1 recommendation to all the DCC builders, add manual reset button and lockout their system until manually reset. I am ordering a overload board now!
