A westbound stack LA - Portland stack train meets an eastbound lumber train at Walong siding on the Tehachapi grade, circa 1995. (Special thanks to IM for making this scene possible )
Yeah, thanks. . . the problem w/ weathering is that it makes the other non-weathered Espee units look WAAAYY too clean!! Guess I need to get my gumption up and start weathering my tunnel motors!

I think it came out ok:
Great shots Dave, actually I'm about to acquire a kodachrome tunnel motor of Santa but may need a speed lettering one eventually as well
Hemi - what's the tough part about re-assembly? It looks like the hoods separate from the sills fairly easily. Did you take the windows out? PS - love the dynamic brake - burned paint effect. Very prototypical! How'd you do it?
Windows, very hard to remove, and after attempting, I gave up,a nd masked them off. That was too much work, so I used masking tape to mask the side windows. I didn't mask of the windshields, but this engine will likely not ever lead, so it's no biggie. I sprayed dullcote right over it all. I also used some masking liquid stuff to mask off the light and lens assemblies. That worked very well. I also did an Atlas SD50 that same night... (so much easier!) The pain in reassembling the TM is reinstalling the cab, and nose to the side sill ass'y. I forget how I managed, but I broke a couple of locating/snap tabs in the process. I am good at breakage, but not so good at fixage... The dynamic brake burn is drybrushed paint--Polly Scale GN Orange (it's what I had on hand, and works very well) Here's my latest, on the first-run SSW TM that the pics of became infamous on Atlas.... Drybrushed Polly Scale rust is the culprit here. I used a stiff bristle brush to scrub 91% alky on the Cotton Belt lettering to distress it, and remove a bunch of it, then drybrushed. [ 21.
