Hello all, I seem to be stumped when it comes to creating my layout and I please ask for any help you guys can give. I have posted a picture of the completed track plan taken from SCARM, feel free to edit it and re-post it with any thing you thing you think I should change. I would like to swap the 2 feeder tracks for regular track and use the Unijoint feeders but have no clue where to place them?

    Thanks

I would put them close to your controller. On a small layout, it won't affect operation in any location, but it is convenient for everything to be compact.

Welcome to Trainboard, what do you want the layout to do?

I think that is a good question. You might want to add some spurs or sidings in case you get bored of going in a circle. You can use it to store extra trains or switch cars like a real railroad. Are you going to model a specific railroad or time?

To answer your Question bremner for now just to have 1 train on each track going in either direction or 1 train the I can switch between the inside and outside loops. In the future sidings/spurs may get added and no specific railroad or time.:)

Edit: I am busy the next couple of days but I will try to post an updated picture with some other things added :)

I have about 60' of Kato double-track mainline and only ONE feeder, and everything works fine!

If you have your layout table/surface already set up, you could just play with the track and see what fits.

The plan you posted does not seem symmetrical like a 4X8 area.

I am sure the width dimension and length dimensions allow for the space. Yet when I examined the plan it seemed like your design area is actually:
    4' x 7' 6"

You may be able to squeeze in some more straight sections is all.

What type of trains are you planning to run? How long are the cars and what type of wheel arrangement do you have on your engines?

What you see in the track plan is the way the track is actually laid out on my layout table I will post a pic for you.

The biggest engines I currently own are a Broadway Limited E8(with sound), the Steam loco included with the Overland Express train set and an old GS4 Daylight that a family friend gave me. As far as cars, the longest I own are 3 Amtrak Superliner's.

Back to the original post, is your question simply regarding how to get the wiring to work so you can run two trains?

Do you have insulating joiners separating the ovals where the switches connect?

Yes, I do have the insulating joiners in place :) And the wiring was kinda my question but I think I may have solved the problem on my own, I will be making a trip to my local model train store on Monday to pick up some of the power feeder joiners :)

And thanks again to all who helped, I am glad I found this forum :)
