Announced at Trainfest. Loco will not be electric. They are doing an FP7A This should be huge. Milwaukee and western folk will be happy.
I don't think there are any photos yet. Someone at Trainfest took this photo of a Kato flyer. All it says is coming in 2017 and "full" announcement coming. http://www.therailwire.net/forum/gallery/11_11_11_16_5_46_17.jpeg
It'll be interesting to see what they do...........the announcement says it will include a Superdome and Skytop, which have never been made. Most of the Milwaukee cars were different from the cars used by other roads. I have a bunch of cars in that paint scheme, including some custom painted ones, and only 2 or 3 are correct. Will they really make the effort to do correct cars? They did a 1957/UP Milwaukee Road train in the past and it was just the existing cars in the Milwaukee paint. I'll keep my fingers crossed......might have to buy the set just for the dome and observation. What would be nice is if they did the '47 Hiawatha with the Loewry (sp) paint scheme and then did a '52 paint scheme as well.
Hopes this leads them to make a MILW 4-8-4 since Friends of 261 has both the super dome and the obs still.
Gosh, another train I will have to get out and scratch for. I just finished collecting my Great Northern Passenger Train and now this. Aiiyiiyii !! Does anyone make a N Scale, Full Dome in the Great Northern Livery? That's not a B-mann!
It is quite likely that they will release the FP7 in other road name after a while. But I am sure there will be many who can't wait and repaint their own. I will probably just get this train to enjoy and wait to see what they bring out later.
I could definitely use the FP7 in BN, CRI&P, and PC, but it's gonna' be VERY difficult to convince myself that I don't need, or even have room for this train. Unless, of course, it happens to be detouring over one of my lines for some reason !!! Hmmmmm....
I wouldn't get ready for too many other FP7 road names. Most of the roads mentioned will require several new shells. The Milwaukee had no dynamic brakes, passenger pilot, dual head lights and horizontal louvers. Jason
There seem to be photos of Milwaukee FP7 units with either a "passenger" or "freight" style pilot: http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/milw/milw0103Ajpa.jpg http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/milw/milw0103Cjpa.jpg http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/milw/milw95Cads.jpg http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/milw/milw0096Adsa.jpg This one, on the Twin Cities Hiawatha, has a "freight" style pilot: http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/milw/milw98c-ark.jpg
So, why did I just buy those partially completed brass kits for Hiawatha cars, now? Also, there's the fact that someone else was also supposed to be doing the Superdomes in the near future, . My only concern is if the Skytop lounge is going to be the sleeper version or just the parlor-style, because there was more than one Hiawatha. Good thing I finally found a set of Life Like Erie Builts, because now there will be a train for them to pull, . I also have a resin shell for making 261 with, as well. Guess I better get to work.
Okay, I didn't look enough I guess. The one on the ad is the passenger pilot, so I guess we'll see which one they go with. A freight pilot with no DB could be used for RI too I think (if you overlook the cooling coils). Jason
