I got a bad surprise! When I opened the Box from my Intermountain EMD SD40T-2 I saw the broken Railing. I striped the Body down and saw the big mess! The whole Body was broken zinc corrosion! I have4 Engines but I was lucky only one had this bad corrosion. Is there anyone else who also have that problem?
Not an unheard of occurence.......contact intermountain. They are pretty good at making things right as long as they have the parts
I recall some months back we had a topic which started about, I believe, an Atlas engine with Zamac rot. Which as the discussion progressed, others noted troubles with additional brands.
I agree, though contact IM first and see if they have any spare frames. I know they have been working on a re-release so they might have a line on spares. Oh and so you can see them here are my sd 40/45t-2 with the atlas swap. http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/579fe985b1bc1/20160801_172307.jpg Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
The two times I had issues with IM were split gear issues and they sent me new truck assemblies by simply asking what can I do to correct it.
The loco it’s back on track. Intermountain send me two new body’s and to replace the railing a whole complete shell. And that all free of charge including postage to Switzerland! (Warranty). That’s a very cool Service!!!!!! Thanks to Intermountain.
I've contacted Intermountain twice about things like this (broken window glass / parts) on a brand new engine. Each time they sent replacement parts free of charge. Eugen, if I may: What did you use for the concrete around your tracks in your yard? It looks very good!
Looks like I better go check my IM equipment. They are in storage and I never thought I could have a problem with them. Aiiyiiyii!
Hi Bill That’s just painted cardboard. I made the joints with a Japan knife and paint them a little darker. For tunnel portals and retaining walls I also use cardboard. With the knife I cut the cardboard have thru. Put an mixture of water and glue ( 8 : 1 ) on it. Then cover it with one layer of a paper tissue. Paint it gray after the color is dry, drybrush it to get the lines of the sheathing.
