OK, Charlie, fair enough !!! But, when did the flags fall ??? I will NEVER own CRI&P "bankrupt blue". In my strange world, the Rock Island was prosperous in maroon , and the Penn Central ruled the East !!!. I'm open-minded, but still a bit stubborn. Something that can squeezed in to '50 to '76 (Bicentennial ???).
A three pack of freight cars of any road(s) will do! I don't expect era specific stuff for a 1920's layout, that would be a bit selfish of me. Heck, the last run cars look pretty nice on a 1920's Montana layout, being dragged along by little bitty steamers!
Personally, to me, it does not matter what road it is. The era......... Sorta... But I will support TB anytime. I do wonder though if perhaps there needs to be a way to get more attention to the poll. I sorta just came across it this morning. What caused you to go with a runner pack versus a single car purchase? Not that it matters, but some folks may not be able to do a runner pack.
I am good with what ever you do. I will support TB. This is about a special run project, not a fill my wishlist project. Trey
The advantage to multi-packs is that you would need to sell fewer units - assuming that MTL's policy hasn't changed, you can do the minimum run of 300 cars as 150 copies of a two car pack. (There are restrictions on this.) That means fewer buyers are needed to sell out the run. The disadvantage of the above is that the multi-packs will cost more (well, of course), which means fewer potential buyers. On an unrelated note, my father had a still sealed Barry Goldwater figurine, sold by Remco I think but not sure. I have to find it again sometime. I wonder if that might rate some 'eBay Humor'?
If I can afford it at all, I'd buy a single car of pretty much any vintage, just to support TB. I'd be more likely to buy something I could use... which would be either 1940s, or "last week", or something that could reasonably be seen during those eras (so, I guess 1900-1940 or 1975-2015). But a runner pack would be very likely to be outside my charity/support-friends budget, which means it would have to be something I desperately need for my layout... like a bunch of Atlas C55 #7 turnouts
Depends on what you are doing, I was interested in the MP car, but it didn't suit my timeframe of 1996 or 2011ish and I already have plenty of cars sitting around with no wish to part with or use them. Runner packs are nice but can also be a little pricey.
I would be interested in a Special Run Drainboard Livery; maybe in assorted type Cars, but otherwise one of these other small Roads; No I'll purchase one to support Trainboard as usual. PS: I would like a set on my layout that Says "TRAINBOARD"
I dont have a layout but I purchased the boxcar from the last run and I would buy another special run if it was a single car or a runner pack. Eric
At this point I think we are stuck in the place where it appears that another special run will not sell 300 cars. If we get there, we will do one. Charlie
Thanks Charlie, for the update. Understood but worth the try to throw the thoughts out there. Later date then
