Search out Bachmann Forums. Look in the HO forum or search the HO forum there. There has been a discussion and The loco diagram is in the Parts page. Bachmann also has a Facebook page and you do not have to belong to Facebook to see pictures of the loco. I read all the blah, blah, blah about company posting and rather not upset those with tender sensibilities. Rich
Yes, there is a GP-7 in the photo. When I started the layout, the Atlas Alcos weren't out yet. This was a long time ago. I had custom painted a couple of F units for the Northern Pacific and was trying to come up with a family looking paint scheme. Atlas then brought out their line of Alcos. Fantastic running locomotives (even by todays standards) and I was sold. Yes, there is power from the Northern Pacific and the Milwaukee Road. That's what's nice about freelancing. You can have things your way. I model the area I live in, set in 1957, and connect to both the Milwaukee Road and the Northern Pacific.
Awesome. An open cab, bigger tender wheels and motor in the boiler. Factory DCC with sound. Hot dog! I had a heck of a time stuffing a Tsunami micro and speaker into that tender. I used a NWSL motor for better running and more room.
Correct, Athearn Genesis Phase 1 and Phase 2(b) I think. I did for sure see D&H on the list of schemes.
when I was a N scaler i had approx 80 locomotives I swore on here not to have more than 10 HO locomotives to which I am getting close, the under GP7 which will be a TEXMEX may well be my last locomotive purchase
I need to do an inventory, but I don't so much have a lot of working engines as I do projects from estate sale athearns and proto power customs purchased for $5-$20 that Jud need some TLC, or paint projects for my freelance projects. I may buy one of those Genesis GP39-2s if Atlas doesn't rerelease the trainman ones, but I'm far more likely to deal in "projects from the swap meet."
I would love to see my Overland U50c running down a point to point layout with my Brass Rollingstock some day. After a brief conversation in the HO Operations Thread about point to point operation and might just try that so I can finally give my HO pieces a workout
Wanted one of these for my 1960 layout in the UK (it's only an 8ft x 12ft room mind you! My much modified Bachmann Doodlebug is now my avitar!! Not perfect I know but my best effort!
What little we see of your layout looks interesting. Maybe some further pictures? Good subject for a new topic!
I have found it but it was a very old and poorly built toy of unknown scale/gage. I need HO and the small combine to go with it.
Trouble is, I would like locomotives on my layout which I do not need and would not fit area or era! AW is an all-Alco freelance line set in Montana in the 70's, but I do have two Santa Fe locomotives (80's - 90's blue and yellow) out of time and location! but would love more of my favourite road, even possibly a wide cab Super Fleet.
I'd like a TARDIS. Past, present, future, it fits in any timeframe. What I really need is a fleet of the small steamers that SP&S had outside of the Challengers and Northerns that won't break the bank.
I've got most needed models covered from Atlas and Athearn, but there is an ugly rumor going around that Athearn is near to announcing a Genesis SDP40F - of which I'd like a pair for my layout. The dilemma then will be what passenger cars to get which are reasonably accurate mid-late 1970's era Amtrak. Also I need some SP SD40's with the light package in the 84xx series - yet to be announced by Athearn.
Mid 70's would be amfleet, these were built by budd mid to late 70's . Also heritage equipment from the old railroads still in use. Anything that the freights had were pretty much given to Amtrak. Super liner 1's were built late 70's early 80's most of the heritage stuff and presuperliner hi level cars were all Santa Fe equipment with a few scattered from other roads. There were a couple of baggage cars running around up until this past month (may still see them) if you looked closely you could see where the lettering was. One said Santa Fe the other Union Pacific. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I road the Amtrak San Francisco Zephyr and no, there weren't any amfleet cars on that train; in fact I have never seen an amfleet on the SFZ and I prefer to model the typical train, so it's all heritage cars for sure. The SDP40F's prime years were from 1973/74 (build dates) to the late 1970's as they were being sold off or traded back to EMD (prime movers used toward F40PH's). The F40PH which replaced the SDP40F was introduced in 1976 and by the late 1970's they were fast replacing the SDP40F's - that process lasted into about 1981 or so. The Superliner I cars entered service in 1979, so it's possible some SDP40F's pulled Superliners but for my purposes - Amtrak California Zephyr, I already have 6 F40PH's to pull my Superliners. It's all heritage cars for me and SDP40F's. Getting back to my original dilemma when Athearn produces the Genesis SDP40F, it's going to be a challenge to find appropriate non-foobie Amtrak passenger cars to pull! They are out there for sure, but so many foobies are on the market from Walthers and other makers, you have to do research and be careful. The Amtrack SFZ had a "dogs breakfast" of passenger cars, which yes, were likely weighted in western private passenger train origins, probably including ex-CZ cars (BLI), ex-NP or GN cars (Walthers) and ex-ATSF cars (Walthers), UP (Walthers) and perhaps a few of eastern origin mixed in from PRR, NYC, etc. By the time I road the SFZ it was around 1976. The "rainbow" period was probably largely over by the time the SDP40F diesels came along, not many passenger cars lingering in original paint. I recall seeing the Coast Starlight passing through Davis CA when I was in Jr High around 1973 and pretty much all the cars were pointless arrow then.
