    Hi

I've just installed a TCS Wowsound decoder in a Proto 2000 NYC F7. Very pleased with it but I'm a bit confused about airhorn (and bell come to that) type as there are over 30 to choose from on this decoder.

I've done a search of likely places on the internet (and am in / from the UK so don't really know too much about airhorns) but haven't really come up with an answer. Does anyone on here know which type it was please?

    Any replies will be appreciated.

    Phil

NYC F7s all had Wabco E-2 horns. They were tuned to F (below middle C) 174 Hz.
The Leslie A-200 was similar. It was a slightly lower note D# 156 Hz.
The Wabco E-2 had a somewhat more mellow sound.

The NYC diesel bell rate was faster than most. One source showed it to be 210 / minute.
Yikes! That was probably a misprint - 120 /minute (2 / second) would be more like it.
For comparison the New Haven RDC was 48-60 /minute.

210 per minute would sound more like an alarm clock!
