I have been wanting one of this type tankers for my refinery scene. Well nobody makes one, so I am making my own. This unit is a combination of old Route66 tankers and some new technology 3D printed tractors. The tractor is one of HuskerN's 379 Peterbuilt tractors that I have modified a tad to fit the tank onto it, The trailer has a dolly to put on the front and obviously both will have the 3D printed wheels from Husker's kit. I have a great deal to do to be finished including air brushing the chassis black, wheels and tires black and then "chroming" the fuel tanks wheels, twin stacks and such. The paint, on the tanks, was way over applied, by me, and now I am paying with extra work with wet/dry 1,000 grit paper. They look worse than the cab unit but they will be finished well when complete. I just can't seem to grasp the idea that a little goes a long way. Duh!!!! When I get some hazmat placards and some other colors added, I think it will be cool. thanks for looking Carl
I wouldn't mind having a 359 or sightly earlier Peterbilt. Does someone make them? And appropriate trailer(s).
Yup. I have of those kits sitting in my "to do" pile. Just hoping for a semi-tractor of the same era cab, to haul other cargoes.
There is a hobby shop in Maryland that has two of the GHQ Peterbilt 359 semi-tractor kits in stock, and four of the logging truck kits. TrainBoard "stared out" the hobby shop name, and disabled the links I tried to include in this post. :startled: Carter Edit: GHQ is also showing both kits in stock.
The site owner has a reason for what you experienced. And also: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?106711-TrainBoard-Policy-on-Posts-About-Retailers
calzephyr sorry i my have worded it wrong yes they have both. i just meant one is a tractor . the logging truck do's not have a fifth wheel.
I have finished my body load and pup unit. Not real happy with it but from 3-5 feet viewing it will be ok. I need to touch up paint on the wheels and tires and add a couple of decals. I was able to put a windshield in the cab. One comment about Shapeways. I am not real sold on their product. My first shipment had a couple of items broken and to their credit they sent me, gratis, another printing. However, they sent me a combination of two vehicles. Don't know how or why but John ( nscale addict ) pointed out from some pictures that I was trying to place a Peterbilt cab on a Kenworth frame. Oops, as I told John I was just working with parts they sent me. Stupid me for not knowing the difference.
