Anybody going? http://lcmrr.org/openhouse.html I stopped in a couple years ago and hope to make it back Saturday or Sunday. Anyone else? No, I am not affiliated.
I'll see what I can do - still never posted up from TrainFest. I used to be much better with follow through on photos. Also need to remember not to take blurry photos . . .
Well, it happens. Maybe someone needs to build the Never Blur camera. There'd be a ticket to vast wealth!
We made it out on Sunday dodging the major storms in the area. It would have been wiser to stay home, but we fared OK. I spoke with the greeter at the door (William, I think) for a while and my daughter was entertained by their activity/search sheet. Even my wife enjoyed it and wanted to look at 'one more thing' before we left. It was MUCH less crowded than when I'd attended a few years ago, which was actually quite nice for me - it was shoulder to shoulder last time. I'm sure the weather and Bears game were factors. They're running Digitrax - I'm not sure if that's new since I was last there. I did take a bunch of snapshots and they're up on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/oblivion/sets/72157637847776705/ I did fairly well with the blur (did discard a few).
Indeed. I didn't see a lot of changes since I was last there (it was amusing to see the house under construction scene the same) and there's a little wear and tear in spots (e.g. the hobo camp had an earthquake or some REALLY good white lightnin'), but it's a nice layout and I get the impression they spend most of their time running trains. I think one of them said it's the culmination of 40 years . . .
