Tried to log on to Atlas forums and it's slow again. Takes forever to go on a topic. I think they need a new server or something as this is a normal occurance. I've never had any problems here and Trainorders(flame-central).

I hang out around three, Yahoo! groups Layout Design (Ldsig), Atlas, and here.

Yahoo was terrible, and I went months without accessing the Ldsig group. It is only recently that it seems improved.

Atlas has good times and bad times. The earlier incarnations before their latest forum format was usually slow, clutsy, crashed a lot, and was in general a pain. This has been improved, but it is by no means perfect.

Trainboard at times can be slow, but seems to be the least of the sinners. This past long labour day, trainboard was the easiest to access and to post to. Atlas was non-existent, and Yahoo groups seemed to be up and down.

Try the Railroad Line Forums. I've never heard of it until last week. It looks like a sister of Atlas as far as the format goes.

Could it be that many more are participating and "tying up" the lines? I know that I got 7 of my friends on the forum as contributors now. Imagine how busy the server would be if we all got 3 more guys to contribute regularly.

Tried last night and this morning to get into the atlasrr forum. No dice. Looks like atlas needs to pay their server for a bit more bandwidth.

Is this topic really nessisary? I think not. This forum is doing fine and when we have trouble it gets fixed right away. Lets not use up OUR band-with on topics that are about "the other guys". It's useless...

I have to laugh every time it happens.
They call it "Train Bored" and other disparaging comments over there but every time the site craps out, someone immediately posts about it here. Any port in a storm eh?

Personally, I'm more interested in the products in the Atlas site than I am in their forum. Honestly now, P&Ming over the fact their favorite locomotive didn't get made this year, and their world is at an end, yadda yadda yadda......must be a whole room full of Scott Seibler clones over there. :D :D :D :D

They still have a ways to go to match TrainOrders or any of the AOL free-fire zones that pass for RR boards.

AOL- so easy to flame, no wonder it's number 1
    :D :D :D :D

I've been on there for a while. Good forum with good people, but light on the N-scale material.

I think that this place is just fine!
