So I signup and get the go ahead to use the board. At the bottom of the screen it says I have posting previledges. So I make a post, no problem. I get someone to respond to the post and so I attempt to reply. Then I get a message that says I have to wait 3 days. So next day I attempt to reply and it works. So then I make a good and complete reply and guess what? I get the three day message again. Sooooo I have suggestion that in the automated 'welcome' message we get when we sign up add in a paragraph about the three day posting and there should be no misunderstandings or frustrations. Thanks. Russ (on day two, waiting for tomorrow which is day three). btw this post worked!

There is no three day period for making simple posts.

There is for attachments, etc. This is to stop 'drive-by' spammers. Who sign up, quickly upload porn, and other such trash, then disappear. The hold period allows us time to look over newbies and weed out those potential troubles.

One common problem people have, is logging in- When doing so, ALWAYS check the "Remember Me" box. If not, the moment you surf away, the temporary cookie is gone and you must log in anew. Due to quirks of the software, people can then experience odd little headaches. Such as if taking a lenghty period of time to compose a response. On a temp cookie, it may corrupt or simply not hold for you.

What Ken described is correct. The problem you are saying you are having sounds abnormal to me. You should be able to post without problems even during the three day "probationary" period. Let me say this, we have no desire to slow bona fide users down at all. These unfortunate measures are simply to let us catch spammers before they post garbage.

Thanks for the replies. I now understand. Yes I was adding an attachment or a link, so I see how the system works. Thanks again. Tomorrow is day three and I'll post some more. Russ

Thanks. We look forward to it, and welcome aboard.

One more thing to add here for those reading; we have about 5 or 6 staff members that work around the clock to keep this site clean from spam. You have no idea how many are being stopped by the 3 or 4 different things we have in place now, plus the hundreds and hundreds of actual volunteer man hours that are spent at the controls here. The number of spammers attempting to hit the site daily is unreal. It's too bad that we have to do any of this at all.

Welcome to Trainboard, Russ. Hmm Chiloquin, home of Train Mountain. I'll bet you have some great photos to share with us.
