How do you remove the track section from the Kato truss single and double track bridges? i removed the screw underneath the bridge but the track is still held in place by clips on both sides of the bridge. do i need to cut these or is there another way without breaking or cutting plastic? :) sorry if this is a repeat question.

    thanks in advance! td

I slipped a small screwdriver under the end of the track and gently lifted it, it pops off. I also took a couple swipes with a file to the tabs on the top of the bridge so it can be lifted off more easily in case of a derailment or cleaning track.

Yes. It should just pop loose. At least it did on the one such bridge I possess.

It's been years, but, if I remember correctly, I slipped an Xacto blade in between the slot on the bottom of the bridge and the tab from the superstructure. This helped release the tab. You have to be careful, or the knife blade will penetrate the side of the girder. But, if you go slowly, this will work and free the superstructure from the bottom portion. Then, you can get that code 80 track off, file down the nubs that held it in place, and replace it with bridge track, like this...

I used Micro Engineering code 55 bridge track. To me, it was a huge improvement in the look of the bridge.

    Hope this helps,

If you are just wanting to the get the track off then as Dave suggests, get some ME bridge track to replace it. To take the track itself off, you need to remove a screw or two in the bottom and then cut or break off tabs on each end of the bridge that lock the rails to the bridge base. By the time you do all that, replace it with the bridge track, it will look much better.

You can see here what it looks like with the track removed. You have to file down the tabs so that you can lay the bridge track smoothly.

Interesting. My bridge did not have these attaching features. I've had mine quite a while though, (1990s), so perhaps yours are more recent?
