Seems like there is nothing going on now on the N scale forums. Chalk it up to the economy or the situation in China or the good weather or whatever. But whatever, it translates as one thing, BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That only means one thing... time to get a good flame war going! Here are some sure fire topics:

    Code 55 vs 80
    The slinky!
    DC vs DCC
    body mounts vs truck mounts
    ride height
    plastic vs metal wheels
    PRR steam

I know they are all old and have been beaten to death and back. But you can create your own. So flame on, everyone. That is, everyone except me. I'm going to take another nap.

How about N scale is really 1.95 mm to the foot instead of 2.00 mm to the foot? N gauge, however, is 2.00 mm to the foot (more or less, I think it's actually 2.017857 mm to the foot). Now that ought to start the rivet counters foaming, as N gauge rivets are actually only 0.96637 of what they ought to be.

And we could discuss why this matters! Actually, it did matter to me in building longer ships because the drawings, which I did at 2 mm to the foot were always too short by 3.36 percent. For smaller details I didn't care, but a 497' long ship shouldn't be 480.2' long.

Hopefully it means that everyone is busy buying, building and crafting. I've always found the N Scale segment of the board to be the most popular and busy... in my short stay here so far. Since I am very new to N Scale, I can't really comment on the topics you suggested, but I will say that I plan on converting anything that has plastic wheels to metal wheels. I think they look better, they add "weight" at the lowest point on the car and I like the sound they make over a rail joint. Okay, so the weight addition is pretty insignificant. But... if someone made super-heavy weighted wheels/trucks out of very dense material, would you consider buying them? I would assume that depleted uranium would be out of the question, but what other material could be used?

College and pro-football seasons just under way. Baseball closing in on playoffs. Soon will start hockey and basketball. The skiing, Holidays and..... I'm afraid there are simply too many distractions these days. :(

And then RickH shows up fired up about the Left Wing Turnout Men and the Right Wing Switchmen.

    Confounded Model Railroaders Culture Wars.

Never mind the NMRA Ninja's. And the little Tin God's that run around spouting off authoritative statements like they are God's gift to MR's. It would be ok if they were right, more often then they are wrong.

And you know............there will never be a resolution.

Just remember, the Switchmen are watching.

Yep, seems very quiet on other websites. Here we've been somewhat busier then others. Yes, it's summertime and there are distractions but for many of us who have in essence out door layouts (In the garage, tin sheds, garden railways and sun porches) this is the season to get'r done.

Which reminds me, I need to get out to Stubby's House, he has a HO layout in the garage, Steve and I are wanting to get his layout hard wired in, so WE can enjoy it.

Mine, I got so dammed frustrated at it that I decided it's better to walk away from it rather then C-4 it. It's ok but will take a lot of hours before I can start the scenery. Got's to make sure the track is holding it's own and the problems are minimized.

I dare not ever mention again the single most controversial subject on the board. Once was enough.

I do wonder if they have fixed that fluke in the trainboard website that seems to change the number underneath my location. I've a serious feeling it is soon going read, "58". Argggg! They need to stop that!

Maybe I should post the original designs for my "Thrommers"?

"time to get a good flame war going"

Yah, great idea. Just what we all love on these forums. Lets see how many more modelers we can anger. Then there will be even less posting.

How about posting something a bit more positive like your recent purchases, picture(s) of your layout, another's layout, something you've been tinkering with, or...

That's funny & really hits "home".
That little glitch just changed my number to 58 a couple weeks ago...

Not sure what the motive would be for this thread. Maybe if you're bored with the content on these forums you could do some actual modeling or something and start a thread chronicling your experience. That would be interesting for all, and might spark some other folks to start projects and document them here. Or I guess you could start a pointless thread like this one and troll for bad attitudes.

It will too soon again change mine as well. Can't seem to stop it, nor slow that computation. The software just won't cooperate. :(

Or even more- Perhaps we could get M/T to cast all their freight car parts in Tungsten? Brake wheels, couplers, roof walks, stirrups and... Ha ha.
