40 footers were still fairly common when the Family Lines was formed. Does anyone know if any ever got repainted into Family Lines livery (most likely black with yellow numbers and letters)? I searched around the web with no luck, but did find a 40'er painted in SBD paint (not resteciled) !

I've got some undec 40' cars, and some Family lines decals....I'll probably do one or two, I'd just like to know if they actually had any, and if so I'll do those numbers.

    Thanks for any help....at all

Not saying they never existed but I've never seen any photos of Family Lines 40-footers.

Yes, that's about all I came up with, but I think I'll paint one anyway. I have a couple of factory painted Conrail 40 foot boxcars that I heard they never had, but I can't prove it.

    Thanks, Mike

According to the L&N Color Guide Vol. 1, a few received FL paint. There is a picture of L&N 11731 in black with yellow Family Lines lettering. It was from a group of 400 PS-1's rebuilt in 1971 and 1972. The car in the photo had been repainted in May of 1981 at SLS.
