I just picked up a TCS K1D4 decoder for my SD70M and for some odd reason this decoder does not have led's on it. I do see on either end of the decoder there are small copper strips which look like they are there for soldering LED's to the board. My question is simple. Is that what they are for? Before I go cutting up the old lightboard and soldering do-dads on this decoder I want to be sure, since I can't seem to find anything on TCS' website or elsewhere about the LED's needing to be soldered. Thanks. Picture of said copper strips: TCS' website shows an SD70M with ditchlights etc, but the lightboard appears to have been worked over a bit and shows no LED's http://www.tcsdcc.com/public_html/C...ictures/N_Scale/Kato/EMD_SD70M/EMD_SD70M.html
Lol I thought the same thing at first glance when I recently installed my first decoder. I haven't put it on the track yet,I half expect it to be a learning experience
I got a new sound card from MRC, thought it didn't have lights on it. Called them and they said look close that they were small. Put it in ES44AC and it worked. It is not as bright or as loud as the older cards but it will have to do. Also had to modify the body so it would fit.
