    Good Evening All

This is my fist posting to the forum.

First an introduction. I'm an Army Engineer (the construction/destruction type), mobilization officer (yes I've been busy since 9/11) and Automation Officer (that only means I know how to turn one on, off and couple of other things in between).

I've been reading your posting for a few months and enjoyed the diverse topics. My favorite road names are B&O, C&O and N&W. I do not have a home layout but enjoy running my two LL N&W 2-8-8-2s double headed with 45 coal hoppers (about 18' feet of train and growing) on the South Hampton N-Trak club layout.

    I will build a small (30" X 80"+) this summer.

I prefer the later steam and early diesel era.

    Welcome aboard!

Can you tell us more about the layout you plan to build this summer? It's always fun to see what is planned. And then to follow along as progress is made!

Hey Robert, can I assume "COS" is short for Colorado Springs?

I just finished working with cadets in a Canadian Reserve unit - 6 Field Engineers in North Vancouver, BC. Welcome to the board. You're coming into a good time in steam in N. The scene was pretty bleak with very few "good" steam engines, but recently the selection has begun to blossom, so you should find some good choices in the years to come.

Thanks for the greetings. I apoligize for responding so late. Since 6 June I have been on the road for eight weeks at three Army schools on three diffenent army installations and living out of a suitcase.

Needless to say, all my railroad activity has been put on hold. To top it off I'm being assigned to Ft Dix, NJ and must move and learn a new job this month.

Alas, no summer layout project. It must wait for winter. Probably the best time since weather will promote indoor activities.

I recently purchased two N&W FM Train Masters. They look as good as my two LL N&W 2-8-8-2 Y3Bs pulling 45 coal cars (last time at the Norfolk N-Trak club layout).

I'll post again when I settled into my new digs.
