Hello!! After years in N scale, I have sold off all of my N scale stuff, and am starting a new layout in On3 later this winter. I dabbled in Hon3, but found it still to be a bit too small for my tastes, and Sn3 simply does not exist..at least as far as what it is that I am looking for, and when I do find it, it is simply beyond my budget...enter MMI and San Juan car kits, and I am happy to be doing DRGW late 40's early 50's. As of this writing, I have two k-37's, two k36's, one k-28, and one k-27, and possibly another k-37 as well here soon. I have sent one 37 and one 36 to Australia for a bit of work by a friend down there, and when it gets back I will send down the third 37 (if I get it, as well as the 27 and 28. My goal is several 36's and 37's, a few 28's, a few 27's, and some 16's and 19's if I can find them. I also have been aquiring cars, and am up to about 45 so far, and am needing quite a bit more. The layout will be 10x24 feet, hopefully double decked, but I am not sure, as I dont think I can fit a 41" radius helix anywhere around there...I am trying to stick to 41" curves but that is tough, I may need to squeeze a bit...I will be running pipe trains, coal, manifest, eventually oil trains, and a few passenger as well, would love to throw in some silverton cars just for fun...for those of you with LDSIG experiance...post up your ideas on the layout...I am an LDSIG member in the bay area, and I want to build this layout with ops in mind, not just around the walls...thanks...

When you have your layout plan worked up, please let us take a peek at it. When under way, any photos of construction, etc, would be fun to see!

May I ask what kind of work you are having done Down Under?

Great collection of what you already have. I presume RTR cars as I also prefer? Otherwise it would take forever to build up such a collection.

Robert...I am sending them down there because steam engines are actually quite hatd to set up correcly. The timing to the crank eccentric needs to be done just right or it just sounds wierd...at least to me. Also, the guy is doing lights on it also...I have already dome light weathering and crew and cab curtains to them...these are just final touches. As far as cars go...I have bought, built, and been given some by friends....as for layout plans...all in my head still...I like to bend the rules regarding traditional layout design...and this time will be even worse trying to get those curves to fit.....can you say "Ducka you head, Lowla Bridgeda???"
