I was looking at the Fox Valley website on facebook and I was treated by FVM announcement of new Gevo ES44AC'S/ES44DC"s and CSX/NS unit will be correct and plus a prime unit next May 2012. I'm so happy that Matt notice NS before Kato I mean he truly has my $$$$$$$ ouch!!!! I will be getting ready for the rush.
If they are like the first run of NS, they are going to partialy correct. They are going to have the wrong narrow handrail ends for CSX and NS, wrong cab headlight placement for NS, and the goofy BNSF rear headlight for both. At least the cab will be right for CSX.
I hope the original poster is correct, but when I read the announcement and compared it to previous GEVO announcements, there was no difference - 2 frames/hr, 3 bodyshells, etc... They are still exceptionally nice models!
I'm thinking the next round of CSX/NS Gevos from Matt will use the same handrails and headlamp configuration. Not sure where I see anything that points to something different. The text on the new product notifciation http://www.foxvalleymodels.com/Sep-11-GEVO.jpg matches the text on the orignal notice : http://www.foxvalleymodels.com/pdfs/Dec09.pdf so it appears only paint and truck differences in this new run for CSX/NS I'd love to wrong thou...
if they're going to be the same as the first run then they will : - be running worse than a model power - have a dead-on-arrival rate of approx 30% - have glued shells .........
I was looking at the poster announcing the release of these NS/CSX Gevo's units I was on the Trainiax.net website and notice the drawings for the NS unit exhaust vent are correct so I feel Matt will be closer than Kato will puttng out NS/CSX Gevo unit along with CN Gevo unit.
:tb-ooh:This is probably one of, if the not greatest news to NS modelers EVER if it has the right headlight. GO HIGH HEADLIGHT!:tb-biggrin:
what ? i have several fvm es44ac. some of them did not run at all after taking them out of the box. after quite some time working on the units i could fix one of the dead ones. the drives are really noisy and performing rather poor. way behind what we are used from atlas or especially kato drives. rather like a model power engine. tried to disassemble the shell. they're partially glued together. not really what i expect from a model in this price range. well, since test-run none of the fvm es44ac hit the tracks again. they are all stored in their boxes. not sure if i should try to sell them or just throw the locos in the garbage bin. in the meantime i acquired more than 30 kato es44ac. no need to say more.
Why did you not just send them back? If purchased at a reputable dealer that should not be an issue. I would have if I ran into the issues you describe.
Time to shut this one down?????????? Why is it, about once a month, we get into these "let's bash Kato", "let's bash Atlas", "let's bash whoever" threads????? If you buy a bad product.....SEND IT BACK!!! If you don't like a company's new offerings........DON'T BUY THEM!!!!
Let me start by saying the FVM Gevos I own are all excellent models. The details are very crisp as well as the paint. I do wish the hand rails had been right for NS and CSX but I would rather have them wrong than no model. My concern with them is that I am DC and I use Aristocraft wireless throttles. With my system the FVM locos take off like aProStock drag car. None of my other nearly 100 locos behave this way. I contacted FVM with this concern with no response so mine are relegated to sitting in the yard looking pretty. Jeff
Hello I have a couple of the CSX ES44AC units and one who bought form Ebay taken apart I ran it and no problems, I love to get them from you before you sell or trash them. Anthony G. Please contact me if your going to trashed I can use them.
They are just trying to get me to buy one because I need to see for myself, (which I will probably do).
I just noticed that the next run (due May 2012) of FVM GEVO's has a pair of NS in the primer grey scheme, very cool! I'm in on that one!
