just got back from doing the ModelRail Live show at Barrow Hill Roundhouse with our 'Cuyahoga' layout. I have never seen anything like it. We knew in advance that the show, set up in the former Midland railway engine shed, would be spectacular as the new build Peppercorn A1 4-6-2 and B1 4-6-0 'Mayflower' were to be guest attractions. The shed is already a base for eight other steam locomotives and roughly sixty ex mainline disel and electric locomotives. The first surprise on setting up was probably the most dramatic backdrop we have ever had with a layout. From left to right we had a Napier 'deltic' engine on a flat wagon, the innards of one i.e the timing gears that control the three crankshafts and D9005 'Tulyar' one of the preserved locomotives. This was in the Deltic preservation society shed Once the show opened we were absolutely packed out and could barely see the 60 foot long 'Hornby Trains' stand opposite us for people. I found it dificult to get away from the layout even to go for a pee as we a were so busy! Sunday was not quite as busy but still a bit bonkers but later on I escaped to shoot some video of the full size rail action going on outside. The video is a mix of Cuyahoga in action plus main line and roundhouse shots. I think you'll see what a unique show this turned out to be http://youtu.be/usv7oLD7uK8 Thanks to ModelRail magazine, Hornby trains and the BHESS for putting on a fantastic event KEV
