Maybe it was posted in jest. Hard to tell on the internets..

Spray bottle with regular old water seems to do the trick, and the cat will forever be mindful of said spray bottle after it's first lesson.

    Just let it slide.

So, is our baby feline staying away from the layout?

I suspect your troubles are all but over.

I hope it was in jest.

I have heard that the spray bottle trick works but you can not let the cat see you do it or they will be mad at you.

Ding, ding, ding... We do have a winner!!!

Two days and not another problem with her. This is something I would recommend if anyone else has a problem with a cat or other critters.

Once again it is called RO-PEL and looking at the package and what it is made from, it seems safe for them too.

That would scare the cat off the layout after she has got up. She might even do more damage after getting spooked. And almost 50 bucks a pop... Ouch. That would sure take a bite out of the train budget getting a couple of them.

The RO-PEL has keeped her off and now she will not even go near the layout. And the cost was less than 9 bucks. I am very happy with the results.

I figure after a few weeks I can just vacuum the stuff up and she should leave it alone from now on.

Thanks every one, seems this problem is solved.

My wif and I have two cats, a male and a female from the same litter. They love to run around the house together and cause mischeif. They never get into the layout the room because I have a door. However, they will sit outside the door and wait quietly for me to come out. I have ccepted the fact that they will be eternally curious about the one room in the house they can not get into.

Now, if I can just get my wife to let me throw them outside and install a kitty-door.... I am tired of cleaning the litter box all the time since my wife is 5 months pregnant.

Here's the love of my life, after my wife of course! This was from 2005. Evie was less than a year old. We all lived on a sailboat. She never ate a train. Jim

I had two cats. I lost one to cancer last month. She never went on the layout but liked to sleep on a chair in the room. My other cat just goes up on it to look out the window. Some cars knocked over but never any damage.
Last Friday I adopted an 8 week old kitten. Now I have to Keep the door to the layout room closed. I took this pic this morning. The dog is going to be no help here.

Back when my son and I had a 4 x 8 HO layout, we found that the best course was to allow access to the tunnel from below so that kitty could lounge on the roadbed and gaze out through the portal.

    Removal was not an option.
