I just lost a traction tire on my Kato GG-1 and it has made a difference. I'm not even sure which wheel it was on - it just looks like a piece of tape. Has anyone had any luck on how to reinstall the tires who would care to help this poor soul?
Hi! Usually it is very simple to find the right wheel because such wheels for traction tires have a groove in the surface to hold the tt in place. Wheels without a groove can't hold a tt, it will splip off. How to change a tt should be shown in the loko manual. Regards Mathi
Here is a link to Kato showing how to change traction tires. N-Scale GS-4 - KATO USA : Precision Railroad Models. Hope this helps Doug
Best I can find.. as others have stated there should be a groove in the wheel that needs the traction tire, it's most likely on the same axle as the remaining traction tire. N-Scale GG1 - KATO USA : Precision Railroad Models
My advice. Get some Bullfrog Snot and put it on the tire with the groove. It will be much easier than doing any dis-assembly to install a traction tire. Results will be at least the same, if not better with the Snot.
How does it NOT help you? it shows EXACTLY what you need to do in step 3, 4 and 5. Applying the traction tire is the same for any locomotive.
Yes, but I was looking for the proper way to disassemble the truck which is different than the the GS-4. So it's the first steps that don't match.
