I must certainly agree about the NWSL Chopper. OTOH, I have never heard the same enthusiasm about the NWSL "Sander." It helps you keep things square as you sand them. I am sure it must be good. Perhaps modelers use it as much. I suppose if you cut it square, why sand it? Any opinions of this tool similar to the Chopper?
I've found it useful for a couple of things: - narrowing a piece of stripwood "along the grain". Trying to cut a piece along the grain tends to cause the piece to split rather than cut. I find it easier to sand a piece to a narrower width. - when I built the "Z" doors for my produce warehouse, the sander made it easy to give each door a final "squaring up" as a whole. I agree it's probably not a game-changer like the Chopper is, but still handy...
I agree, not as usful as the chopper. I tend to use it for larger pcs walls etc. I seem to use use this most often aluminium channel with sandpaper on inside edge. Make them in as many different grits as u want Also, here is a photo of a home made true sander courtesy of John Coots
