Can we get more info on this? Awesome photo and obviously the crew thought the situation was pretty spectacular. They must have used a rotary plow? Did they make it through or are they stuck? It reminds me of driving through northern Maine in the winter while courting my starter wife. It was like driving in a tunnel. They used to broadcast warnings not to allow kids to play on the snowbanks for fear they would touch the electrical lines!
Grew up in NY myself.... remember mornings there were icicles on trash men's noses, and banks of snow hiding dad's Chrysler (or Studebaker, as it sometimes would be!). I'll gear up and take a snow day anyday over some awful 110 degree southern-states summer sweatfest, LOL
From a post here -> http://memebase.com/2011/03/24/memes-railroad-fun/#comments the location seems to be Crowsnest Pass.
Saw this and other photos elsewhere. Can't believe they're using the old smash away at it method, with a wedge plow. Boxcab E50
Heh... this got sidetracked. I actually was curious if anyone was modeling heavy snow in N scale.... hrm...
Winter wonderland This is at the mouth of the west portal of the Mount Macdonald tunnel. Here are 2 more pics of that scene.
That doesn't look so bad compared to how Donner looked at the same time. Of course the UP was using Rotaries... because they'd already buried and broken the spreaders.
