I recently had some repairs done and now the connecting bar between the engine and tender will not stay in place. I suspect that it was installed wrong by the repair guy, but the drawings supplied with the engine are useless.

Does anyone have a picture or drawing that shows the correct mounting and placement of the bar, spring, and associated hardware?

    Thanks
    Jim

    Walthers or Life Like?

I have a Life Like I'd be happy to take pictures of.

    Sorry it is a Y3

Skipgear i need a close-up that shows how the bar and spring are oriented. The bar won't stay on the tender - drops down and uncouples. Walthers indicates there is a retaining clip, but where I don't know

    thanks

The spring is between the loco and the drawbar, the screw goes through the drawar. The offset in the drawbar is down once it leaves the loco.

I had this very same problem with mine straight out of the box. The screw holding the drawbar wasn't done up very far, allowing too much vertical movement in the bar.I screwed it it in until it just seated. Fixed. When my second loco arrived, I checked and found it was screwed in all the way.

Hope this helps. Now if only I had more than a 6' loop to run it on.

Thanks - it was the screw holding the drawbar. I tightened it until it was just seated and all is well.

    Thanks again
    Jim
