Waltheres is re releasing the Proto N Life-Like GP60. The following roads are announced, BNSF ex Santa Fe patch, Rio Grand, NS horshead, UP Lightning stripe with yellow frame stripe and Undec. It's been a long time sence these have been out, hopefully they will be DCC ready.
and yet again, NO SP!!! the D&RGW had 3 and the SP/SSW had 195, over 2/3's the standard production (not counting the M's and the B's). They announced the SW1200, the SP/T&NO/SSW had 56, and they announced the GP20, and the SP/SSW had 58....why does Walther's hate the SP?
Walther's says " DCC-Friendly Mechanism w/Clip-Fit Circuit Board" on their site.. Hopefully it's not DCC friendly like the GP38-2 was. That was more DCC Hostile..
Are we practicing for April Fool's? If not, then it doesn't surprise me that they're NOT doing the most common fleets of GP-60's. I'd love to have more Santa Fe's and just the classiness of the Cotton Belt's fuel my desire to have some of those. On a brighter note, at least Walther's is, at least, releasing the GP-60's again.
Cool down guy's at least they are releasing them, chances are they will do more runs to include other roads. I mean that would only make sense right? Now what would be really cool is if they did the correct trucks, correct road specific sized fuel tanks, correct road specific hand brake, ATSF version nose headlight and roof top A/C units and antena plates. I know fat chance but they did it in HO.
I keep on telling myself I am done buying loco's, but is getting tough with all the reruns being done lately.
As a previous poster inferred 'DCC friendly' can mean a lot of things, there is no specific mention on the Walthers website of a drop-in decoder but we can hope. I'll be waiting for a second run anyway to see if they do straight ATSF units without the BNSF lettering.
I'd buy a dozen in SP/SSW if they were offered! But I'll settle for a pair in DRGW for now. I'd also like to see them in unpatched Santa Fe.
Lost in the noise of the lack of SP units is the fact that these are being offered with DCC & Tsunami sound...or am I misreading the Walthers page? That seems like a big announcement to me, especially if the sound is as good as it is on the FP45s. Jamie
As much as I like my SP/SSW pair from the first release, I'm actually kind of relieved that there's no SP or Santa Fe this go around. No budget distractions for the FVM GP60M & B fund
I Don't know for the HO scale $200 is an awful lot of money for diesel loco. Steam i wouldn't mind but diesel nah too expensive in my eyes.
Grrrrrrr...I forgot why I don't use the Walthers website. Thanks for pointing that out. You would think I would know to check the scale anytime I suspect sound in an N-scale locomotive. Jamie
Well according to the link that has been left I see some models with DCC & sound; but the price is an ouch @ $299.00 for a Proto 2000(Lifelike). A bit steep for an HO scale loco Diesel anyways. Steamers can run that and then some but Diesels usually No. And
I couldn't agree more. I'm glad I'm at the end of my purchasing stage because the prices these days are just a little questionable in my humble opinion.
I hear you, but am guessing every loco not released in a particular road (albeit a popular one like the SP) is a little win for both Microscale Decals & Floquil / Badger???rolleyes:
