Does anyone know why NS is leasing so many units?

And so have seen NS 80Macs, etc running on BNSF trak around Seattle ... usually 1 NS & 2 BNSF ... leasing them out to BNSF apparently ... will be fun to model the black horses w/pumpkins ...

NS leased out the 80MAC's? That doesn't sound right, you sure you didn't see a SD70M-2?

No, I'm not sure ... but doesn't matter much to me, sorry ... the Black Horses look way cool w/Pumpkins ... just, they showed up last few days and haven't seen any foreign power on the BNSF trak, ever ...

Because they haven't bought new power in a while and traffic is on the rebound... even the upcoming SD70ACes and ES44ACs won't make much of a dent

Don't know...but they could send those crummy GMTXs back and it wouldn't hurt my feelings.

    leased power

Lots of leased power on the Piedmont div as well. Mostly running locals.

Traffic is way up and NS is hurting for power.... They have reactivated many previously stored locos, including GP50's, GP38AC's and SD50's. They are leasing large numbers of locos, including CEFX units (in many schemes, including SOO Line), GMTX (ex-Oakway leasing), and even UP C40-8's.
