Bought a Bowser E6 Atlantic this week. Want to build as DCC with a can motor. It seems that I have two choices. One is an Alliance motor and worm set in silicone driving my existing Bowser worm gear. The other much more complicated choice seems to be removing a driver, pulling the worm gear, installing one of the NWSL gear boxes, and then setting a new can motor into silicone. My question is, will the Alliance solution give me smooth, slow speed performance?
The gear box is a better solution, however it may involve extensive frame modifications. I am sure someone else will disagree with this however. My experience? I have been doing custom locomotive work for many, many years. Woodie
Since the Bowser site mentions the Alliance motor, I would say the Alliance motor should work just fine. I did a Google seach for Alliance locomotive motor. Rich
I HAVE used the Alliance in a Bowser Pennsy Mountain and Decapod. They deliver good performance with little effort. Done the gear box thing and that is difficult. The Alliance is Plug-n-Play. Harold
Thanks for sharing your experience with the Alliance motor. Also, thanks for sharing your article on wipers. I was considering ideas on how to get more pick-ups on this Atlantic as I build it. I love your solution.
