Congrats and welcome to TB!! Now, I like that golden spike hammer, too. I may recreate that scene for my layout. Maybe we need a thread on Golden Spikes!? Very nice job.
It is a great feeling to reach a point that you can actually call "done". I think I'm a little jelous because my design is expandable modular/sectional, so I don't know if I'll ever be "done". So what's next? Buildings? Roads? Scenery? You see the scary part is you are never really done, even if you are done. Happy Railroading
Way to go - now the fun begins I am one siding from my golden spike also. I have had this bare area that I could not figure out what to do with - a friend suggested a small intermodal area --- It was a perfect fit. Cut in a switch and lay the siding... YES!!!
"golden spike" moments are the greatest! What is is, however, when you make the switch from DC to DCC? The golden feeder?
I see by all those boxes under the layout that I wasn't the only one stocking up at the LCCS sale last year
I wish they had another sale now. I had just started and didn't really know what to look for or get. I bought a Kato SD80MAC, RS2, a couple of SDs all for $30 each. Bought a couple of Atlas locos. Bought about 75 Micro Trains cars for $3-$4 each. I was making so many trips there during the sale, I had to sneak the bags in the front door. I kept the receipts, but should consider shredding them. If my wife or daughter ever found them.... I still can't believe you could buy cars for less that a conversion coupling. I guess it could be worse, could have started just AFTER the sale. I make a trip over there about once a week at lunch. There's still some MT cars, but they're so expensive, $5.
Congrats!!! I wish I had captured the golden spike on mine in photo... ...But I was too busy running trains!!!!
